气功 Qi Gong

天行健,君子当自强不息

As long as the world continues to move on its axis, mankind will seek to evolve.

QI GONG

Although the world is vast and holds infinite sights, sounds and perceptions, the human mind is only able to perceive less than one ten thousandth of them.

There is a Chinese tale about a locust arguing with other locusts in the North. The locust convinced the Northern locusts that the world has only three seasons, spring, summer, autumn, but no winter. The Northern locusts were was so convinced that the Southern locust was right, that they would spontaneously die in late autumn. Similarly, humans are so convinced by their own incomplete knowledge that they can’t perceive hidden phenomena like radio waves, geomagnetism, natural energy, etc.

We are born and depart our lives as tiny parts of the world. Life comes and goes in an endless stream. Within the world, and in the span of our lives, there is access to an unlimited supply of energy. We can learn to harness this energy when our personal reserves get low. All of us have a renewable source of energy within our own body.

It is most active in the feet when we’re born – babies feet kick constantly before they learn to walk.
As babies grow into children the energy moves to the calves and they run around like small springy birds when they move.

When it moves to the thighs as teenagers we can observe how they walk and run without getting tired, how they begin to have sexual desire, how they gain strength, and often how excess energy creates a desire to fight.

By the time we hit middle age the energy moves to the chest. Generally people have a strong libido, their strength has peaked and they are able to take on mature responsibilities.

Past middle age the energy moves to the head and sexual desire begins to wane, strength decreases. People become able to strategise and develop their skills in the workplace and in life as well as expand their horizons.

By the time we are old the energy has reached the crown of the head.  Sexual desire wanes even more, strength is limited, physical ailments increase and more rest is required. Health become the prime focus. When the energy leaves from the crown it means life has ended.

Practising Qigong daily is like recharging a mobile phone. Without Qigong the majority only have that natural recharge once in their lives, prior to being born. It is also depleted by illness, injury, fear, overindulgence. The result is physical weakness and a shortened lifespan.

When we practice qigong, we charge and replenish our power and energy each time we practise. Life has boundless energy. We need need watch the activity of the young to see how much energy abounds. Our lives as adults – including our careers, our material wealth, pregnancy and postpartum and general life – can be transformed by investing in this source of renewable energy.

The most important element in practicing Qigong is simplicity. It should be as natural as taking in daily sunshine and drinking clean water and it is time-friendly. The key is persistence. If we stay with the practise we will notice our peers grow weaker while we remain youthful, healthy and energetic. Watch out for quick-fix promises by inauthentic lay practitioners. Qigong is lifelong practise, and in the same way as a tree grows taller every year, Qigong continues to renew our energy from youth to old age.

Everyone is welcome to join us in our Qigong practise.

WU TAI CHI QI GONG

Eight ways to get energy from nature

Note that there is no limit to the number of qigong movements from here to the next, approximately between 3-48 times, whichever you like to feel comfortable. Stretching, slowly and evenly, is conducive to the movement of energy in the meridians, and quantity is not equal to quality.

Use 10% of the energy of your mind to focus on the acupuncture points, don’t use too much attention, just think about it. Too much mental power will make your mind feel heavy.

1. Starting pose

Start by relaxing naturally from head to toe 3 times. Then use the tip of your tongue to circle the roof of your mouth dozens of times in any direction.

2. Take a deep breath

Slowly raise your hands from the outside of the body, and at the same time inhale deeply, thinking that the breath is directly inhaled into the lower abdomen. When your hand reaches its highest point, calmly hold your breath for a few seconds. Then, slowly lower your hands from the top of your head down the middle of your body, and at the same time exhale deeply, emptying all the imaginary energy. When your hands are lowered to your navel, and your palms are placed on your lower abdomen (dantian), calmly feel the energy in your body being emptied for a few seconds. Finally return to normal breathing. This breathing should be done through the nose as much as possible, unless the nose is blocked (breathing through the mouth often allows the body’s heat to dissipate and is susceptible to wind and cold). Breathing should be light, slow, round, and deep. Function: Open the qi machine in the lungs and start doing qigong.

2. Loose, Quiet, Empty

Think of your forehead and say “SONG” three times in your mouth. (Song means to relax.)

Imagine the middle part of your chest and say “JING” three times in your mouth. ( Jing means to quiet.)

Imagine the lower abdomen, and say “KONG” three times in your mouth. (Kong means to empty.)

The three sounds should be made forward, long, even and deep.

Function: Empty the turbid air in the three Dantians (Energry center), and only then can clean water be poured into the empty cup.

2. Imagination skin breathe

Imagine that the skin breathes, from both arms, outer thighs, armpits, etc. At the same time, take a deep breath through your nose, open your arms to inhale, and retract your arms to exhale. The method is the same as above (2. take a deep breath) Our skin has a breathing function, but since we were all in our mother’s womb, we will use our skin to perform a breathing-like function to exchange energy with the outside world, which begins to disappear when we are born. Qigong involves the innate energy gathering required to involve these movements.

5. Wu xin hao tian

Use 10% of the energy of your mind to focus on the Shaoshang point (少商穴), abduct your arms, open your palms, and raise your heels at the same time, just in time for the center of your head, the palms of your hands, and the soles of your feet to rise at the same time.

Function: Open lung qi and improve human immunity. Whenever a person’s condition worsens, the lungs begin to tighten and breathing becomes difficult. We often practice lung function to be prepared.

Lower your hands and turn your body to the left. When turning to the back, use your eyes to look at the Kunlun point on the outside of your right ankle. If you can’t see it, use your mind to think about it. Then the hands slowly rise from behind. vice versa. As the body turns to the right, when turning to the back, use your eyes to look at the Kunlun point on the outside of the left ankle. . . . The principle is that eyes belong to fire-like energy. (When you pay attention to someone not far away with your eyes, that person will feel the heat and become alert. Children, women and small animals are the most sensitive.) Our body is like a container holding water. Put fire in it. The bottom of the container is heated, causing water vapor in the body to rise. . . Electricity is generated (all mental activities such as our thinking, learning and judgment consume electricity, and a lifeless body has no electricity).
Function:
Kunlun point is an acupoint on the bladder meridian of Foot and Taiyang, which has the effects of relaxing muscles and activating collaterals, clearing away heat and calming the nerves. The health-preserving effects of Kunlun point include dredging meridians, clearing away heat and calming wind, and is mainly used to treat acute low back pain, heel pain, knee arthritis, sciatica, dystocia, headache, nuchal stiffness, dizziness, infantile convulsions, goiter, ankle sprains, and rickets.

Place your hands toward the Guanyuan point, squat your knees slightly, and close your eyes slightly. Clear away distracting thoughts and turn your mind inward to feel the slight heat in the Dantian inside Guanyuan point.
It’s like putting warm golden elixir into the Dantian, refining it, and absorbing it into the body to replenish energy. The amount of this energy determines our life span and the strength of our immunity. When we get sick or injured, our kidneys will draw this energy out to restore health. It also affects reproductive function.
Most people are born with a full supply of it in their mother’s body (sometimes it is deficient) and spend their entire lives consuming it.
Just like a mobile phone that is fully charged at home in the morning. After running around all day, there is no time or opportunity to charge it. When it runs out of power, it is turned off.

38. Finish the work

Practicing Qigong is like planting a tree. It is not something you can do overnight. As time goes by, you will gain more and more benefits. Just like digging a well, when water is found in a spring, if you continue to dig deeper, it will turn into a lake and sea. If you are impatient and dig a hole in the east and a hole in the west, it will be difficult to find the water source. There is no such thing as being obsessed with Qigong. These are all psychological effects. The human body has sufficient vitality and the immune system recovers by itself. If you feel uncomfortable, don’t think too much about it. Stop for a while and do more Tai Chi to recover naturally. I personally advocate that young people who are in good health should not practice Qigong as they have sufficient Qi, blood and vitality. Just like a cup full of water, it doesn’t increase no matter how much water is added. And if you don’t have enough social experience, it’s easy to get stuck in logical thinking. If you are suffering from illness or your qi and blood are beginning to be deficient, it is recommended to practice it to increase your energy every day and keep your body healthy and youthful forever.
